B&W Logo Design

The objective of the B&W logo design was to create a suitable business logo in black and white that we would work off of for the rest of the semester. The three companies we were given were Angel Rust, a car company; Buff Boiz, a gym; and Pixels, an entertainment bar.

Sketches & Doodles

Outside of the basic description, a large part of the company’s aesthetics were up to us. I interpreted Angel Rust as a mechanics shop and widely based my design on the ‘angel’ part, as well as the idea of giving the car a second life. For Buff Boiz I thought of a dudebro gym, focusing on vibes such as heavy lifting, different gym equipment, and animals that represent strength. With Pixels I considered the entertainment aspect to be some type of gaming, creating a collection of logos based around game assets.

Thumbnails

When the designs were narrowed down to thumbnails, I started working on font studies. With Buff Boiz I focused on industrial or thick and heavy looking fonts. The final font chosen was Enter Sansman. With Pixels, I focused on any font that reminded me of an arcade, or consisted of pixels. In the final design the P and S are pixelated letters I custom made, the L is hand drawn, and the rest of the letters are a font named Variex.
